What Does The BMW P1420 Code Mean?

The Engine Control Module activates the secondary air injection solenoid valve, but the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) does not detect secondary air injection.

Note: Solenoid valve is closed when no voltage is present.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The BMW P1420 Code?

Below are some potential causes of this DTC:

  • Connector to the secondary air injection valve is loose or disconnected
  • Secondary air injector valve circuit short
  • Secondary air injector valve circuit is open
  • Faulty secondary air injector valve
