What Does The GMC P1653 Code Mean?

Engine started; Vent solenoid requested “on” during Test 1, and the PCM detected a high voltage on the solenoid control circuit, or with the solenoid “off” it detected a low voltage (0v).

What Are The Potential Causes Of The GMC P1653 Code?

  • Vent solenoid control circuit is open, shorted to ground or to B+
  • Vent solenoid power circuit is open (check the ENG1 fuse)
  • Vent solenoid is damaged, or the PCM has failed
