What Does The Chevrolet P1404 Code Mean?

Engine started; ECT sensor more than 183ºF, vehicle driven while in 1st or 2nd gear to a speed over 20 mph at an engine speed of 1000-1488 rpm, then vehicle in coast-down mode, HO2S signal over 566 mv, A/C Clutch “off”.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Chevrolet P1404 Code?

  • EGR tube is clogged or restricted, or the EGR valve is sticking
  • EGR Solenoid 2 control circuit is open or shorted to ground

How Can You Fix The Chevrolet P1404 Code?

Inspect for the following:

  • Important: Remove any debris from the connector surfaces before servicing a component.
  • Inspect the connector gaskets when diagnosing or replacing a
    component. Ensure that the gaskets are installed correctly. The gaskets prevent contaminate intrusion.
