OVERVIEWWhat Does The BMW P1397 Code Mean?
Engine started, battery voltage must be at least 11.5v, all electrical components must be off, parking brake must be engaged (to keep daytime driving lights off), automatic transmission selector must be in park and the ground.
What Are The Potential Causes Of The BMW P1397 Code?
- CMP sensor circuit is open or shorted to ground
- CMP sensor circuit is shorted to power
- CMP sensor ground (return) circuit is open
- CMP sensor installation incorrect (Hall-effect type)
- CMP sensor is damaged or CMP sensor shielding damaged
