What Does The Audi P1530 Code Mean?

Engine started and driven at an engine speed of more than 400rpm; and the ECM detected the camshaft timing exceeded the calibrated levels. The valve timing did not change from the current valve timing or it remained fixed during the testing.

Note: The camshaft adjustment is load- and RPM dependant. The electrical camshaft adjustment valve 1 switches oil pressure onto camshaft adjuster (mechanical adjustment mechanism), which adjusts the camshaft.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Audi P1530 Code?

  • Fuel pump has failed
  • CPS circuit is open, shorted to ground or shorted to power
  • ECM has failed
  • Battery voltage below 11.5 volts
  • Position actuator circuit may short to B+ or Ground
  • Camshaft timing improperly set, or continuous oil flow to the VCT piston chamber
  • Camshaft advance mechanism (the VCT unit) is sticking or binding mechanically
  • VCT solenoid valve is stuck in open position
