Audi P1529: Camshaft Control Circuit Short to B+
OVERVIEWWhat Does The Audi P1529 Code Mean?
Engine started and driven at an engine speed of more than 400rpm; and the ECM detected the camshaft timing exceeded the calibrated voltage levels. The valve timing did not change from the current valve timing or it remained fixed during the testing.
Note: The camshaft adjustment is load- and RPM dependant. The electrical camshaft adjustment valve 1 switches oil pressure onto camshaft adjuster (mechanical adjustment mechanism), which adjusts the camshaft.
What Are The Potential Causes Of The Audi P1529 Code?
- Fuel pump has failed
- CPS circuit is open, shorted to ground or shorted to power
- ECM has failed
- Battery voltage below 11.5 volts
- Position actuator circuit may short to B+ or Ground
- Camshaft timing improperly set, or continuous oil flow to the VCT piston chamber
- Camshaft advance mechanism (the VCT unit) is sticking or binding mechanically
- VCT solenoid valve is stuck in open position
