What Does The Chevrolet P1642 Code Mean?

DTC P1640 not set, engine started, engine runtime 10 seconds, and the PCM detected the commanded state of the FC Relay 2/3 driver and Actual state did not match for 5 seconds.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Chevrolet P1642 Code?

  • Fan relay control circuit is open, shorted to ground or to B+
  • Fan relay power circuit is open (check the FAN fuse)
  • Fan relay is damaged or has failed
  • PCM has failed
