Chevrolet P1107: MAP Sensor Circuit Intermittent Low Input
Is your scanner showing Chevrolet P1107?
No worries. We'll show you what it means and how to deal with it.
Chevrolet P1107: MAP Sensor Circuit Intermittent Low Input
OVERVIEWWhat Does The Chevrolet P1107 Code Mean?
The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor responds to changes in intake manifold pressure (vacuum). The MAP sensor signal voltage to the PCM varies from less than 2 volts at idle (high vacuum) to more than 4 volts with the key ON, engine not running or at wide-open throttle (low vacuum).
The MAP sensor is used to determine manifold pressure changes _while the EGR flow test diagnostic is being run, refer to DTC P0401. Also to update the barometric pressure reading (BARO), as an enabling factor for other diagnostics. The PCM monitors the MAP signals for voltages outside the normal range of the MAP sensor. If the PCM detects a MAP signal voltage that is intermittently low, DTC P1107 will set.
What Are The Potential Causes Of The Chevrolet P1107 Code?
Below are some potential causes of this DTC:
- MAP sensor signal circuit shorted to ground (intermittent fault)
- MAP sensor VREF circuit is open (intermittent fault)
- MAP sensor is damaged or has failed (intermittent fault)
- PCM has failed
How Can You Fix The Chevrolet P1107 Code?
Poor terminal connection
Inspect the harness connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, and faulty terminal to wire connection. Use a corresponding mating terminal to test for proper tension.
Damaged harness
Inspect the wiring harness for damage. If the harness appears to be OK, observe the display on the scan tool while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to the sensor. A change in the display may indicate the location of the fault.
Powertrain Control Module
Inspect the PCM and the engine grounds for clean and secure connections
