What Does The Cadillac P1406 Code Mean?

Engine running at idle speed, and the PCM detected the EGR Position sensor was 0.18v during Test 1; or the EGR Position sensor was 2.06v or higher during Test 2; or the maximum change in Desired EGR was less than 0.10v with the signal error over 0.20v.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Cadillac P1406 Code?

  • EGR solenoid (valve) is binding or sticking
  • EGR solenoid control circuit is open, shorted to ground or to B+
  • EGR solenoid power circuit is open (check the ECS 10A fuse)
  • EGR solenoid is damaged or has failed
  • PCM has failed
