What Does The BMW P1638 Code Mean?

Engine started, and the battery voltage is greater than 7 volts, and despite control signal to throttle valve, no position change was detected in 0.6 seconds. The throttle valve activation occurs via an electric motor (throttle drive) in the throttle valve

What Are The Potential Causes Of The BMW P1638 Code?

  • TP sensor signal circuit is open (inspect wiring & connector)
  • TP sensor signal circuit is shorted to ground
  • TP sensor or module is damaged or it has failed
  • Throttle valve is damaged or dirty
  • Throttle valve control module is faulty
