What Does The Audi P1861 Code Mean?

The Engine Control Module (ECM) communicates with all databus-capable control modules via a CAN databus. These databus-capable control modules are connected via two data bus wires which are twisted together (CAN_High and CAN_Low), and exchange information.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Audi P1861 Code?

Below are some potential causes of this DTC:

  • Throttle Position (TP) Sensor has failed
  • Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 2 has failed
  • ECM has failed
  • Ground (GND) connections between engine and chassis must be OK
  • Engine Control Module (ECM) may not connected
