What Does The Acura P1790 Code Mean?

This code indicates the condition that key on or engine running; and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage condition on the TP sensor signal circuit to the TCM.

Note:

  • The lockup clutch does not engage when this code is set.
  • The D4 lamp on the dash will flash 3 times if this code is set

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Acura P1790 Code?

Below are some potential causes of this DTC:

  • TP sensor signal circuit to the TCM is open
  • TP sensor signal circuit to the TCM is shorted to ground
  • TP sensor signal circuit to the TCM is shorted to VREF
  • TP sensor connector is disconnected or damaged
  • TCM or PCM has failed
