What Does The Ford P1650 Code Mean?

In the key on engine off (KOEO) self-test, this DTC indicates the PSP input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is high. In the key on engine running (KOER) self-test, this DTC indicates the PSP input did not change state.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Ford P1650 Code?

  • Steering wheel must be turned during the KOER Self-Test
  • PSP switch/shorting bar is damaged
  • PSP signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
  • PSP switch ground (return) circuit is open
  • PCM has failed

How Can You Fix The Ford P1650 Code?

Check if the vehicle was towed or a power steering repair was carried out. Observe the PSP V PID while checking the wires for intermitten concerns.
