What Does The Chevrolet P1656 Code Mean?

Engine started, engine running, Wastegate Solenoid commanded “on” (Test 1), and the PCM detected the voltage on the solenoid control circuit remained near 12v, or with solenoid commanded “off” (Test 2), the voltage on the solenoid control circuit remained.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Chevrolet P1656 Code?

  • Waste solenoid circuit is open, shorted to ground or to power (B+)
  • Wastegate solenoid power circuit is open (check ENG1 fuse)
  • Wastegate solenoid is damaged or has failed
  • PCM has failed
